I’m Grace, and this is my farm.

I bought my house and 4 acres of land in early 2019, on a bit of a whim. I had dreamt of buying a 100 acre property on which to graze cows and sheep, start a vegetable operation, and raise my family…but this house showed up, and I decided to go for it, despite the fact that it didn’t seem like my ‘dream farm’.

My background is in pastured livestock; specifically, management intensive rotational grazing, where you move the animals to a patch of fresh grass daily to improve animal, pasture, and soil health. I am still passionate about management intensive rotational grazing, 100% grass fed meat, and improving soil health. However, working with this piece of land and its limitations has shifted my focus to bio intensive, low-till vegetable growing. This growing method allows me to continue learning about and practicing good soil health techniques, just using a slightly different lens.

In 2020, I tilled up about half an acre of my back yard and installed a 50x14 caterpillar tunnel to help with season extension and summer tomatoes and peppers (and who knows, maybe ginger?!). I’m building all of the infrastructure for a small livestock operation, with pastured pigs, meat chickens, and laying chickens. 2021 will be my first year of running my own farm, and I can’t wait to work with my neighbors and friends to provide food for my amazing community.
